About Me.

“What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”
– Dr. Jane Goodall
We live in challenging yet fascinating times where change is the only constant. Nothing stands still. This change that we see in society has kept my eyes open on how we can make everything equitable for us, but our surrounding natural habitat.
I have been interested in technology, writing, numbers, and the environment since I was a teen. Watching 1980's and 1990's science fiction in my younger days provided visions of how eye-popping technological predictions would make life easier. However, climate change, environmental degradation, and poverty have counteracted such rosy forecasts of the future, making our world challenging to navigate.
I wanted to find and navigate a road map for where the 21st century would go.
That's why I enjoyed learning about how consumers and businesses interact with money. After high school, I completed my Computer Accounting Technician certificate from Red River College in 1999.
I went back to school full time in 2008. I completed my three-year Bachelor of Arts from the University of Winnipeg with a combined major in Economics, & Rhetoric, Writing, & Communications in 2011. I applied my accounting and tax experience to many environmental courses, including environmental, natural resource, and energy economics. I grasped further competencies in climate and renewable energy policy and new media.
I completed my Renewable Energy certificate from the University of Toronto in 2017 to enhance further policy and technical aspects of emerging clean energy technologies. Meanwhile, I also was accredited with a social media certificate from Algonquin College the same year, providing a clear understanding of the social media landscape. I am also finishing my Climate Policy and Practices Certificate from the University of Toronto in 2023. I am also fine tuning my communications skills by working on the Public Relations Diploma from the University of Toronto.
In my career, I have taken the uncharted path. I have worked numerous accounting and tax preparation jobs, owned a part-time business, written about commodities, the cleantech industry, and social media management for top North American brands. This uncharted path has allowed me to improve myself within tax policy, writing, building client relationships, and my development as a person where I can be an asset to any organization.
I plan to use my skills and experiences from my career to advocating for a just and sustainable world, which moves both public and active transportation forward.
My long-term goals include writing a book about sustainable transportation policy and consulting work for small businesses on these issues.
I want to share all the skills, education, and experience to develop both a cleaner environment and a very prosperous economy for future generations.
Developing an e-portfolio was based on showcasing information that utilizes the power of online tools and enriches the overall portfolio experience. This site is divided into different sections based on my skills and knowledge. Future employers and clients may take a look at both the Professional and Academic sections. Under the Professional section, I offer a selection of my best writing and research on climate policy and clean technology. In the Academic section, I provide some of my classroom work done at the University of Winnipeg, Algonquin College, and the University of Toronto. This includes: online projects, blog posts, and research papers. The Outreach section reflects my volunteering experiences and community involvement, while Testimonials provides referrals to my professional and academic work.
Hope you enjoy.
